ALEX CHOMICZ
AFTRS directing graduate Alex Chomicz was awarded the ‘Tomorrow’s Cinema’ Prize at the Festival International du Film Indépendant in Brussells for his 12 min film Half Mongrel.
It is an award given to “an innovative director who shows a will to renew the cinematographic themes or language.”
The Laundry was invited to the film school showcase at the Cannes Film Festival, while previous work has attracted awards from the Australian Writer’s Guild; ACS; ATOM; as well as a Critic’s Choice Award at The Brisbane International Film Festival.
Following an internship in Warsaw with Academy Award winning director Andrjez Wajda, he was commissioned to make recruitment films for the Singapore Army. Recently in Hong Kong he shot an episodic series of internet ads for the British vintage luggage company Halo.
He is currently developing The Witness Tree, a 90 minute psychological thriller for Chilling Pictures, as well as exhibiting Video Art & a Photographic Series which was shown as part of The Weekend Australian’s emerging art project Off The Wall @ Art Sydney & Art Brisbane.
